Getting here

  • Off MacArthur Boulevard in the Airport Area, close to the 73 toll road and the 405.
  • Four minutes from John Wayne Airport, which matters if you are flying in for a deposition or a medical examination.
  • Parking is in the building structure. Allow extra time between 8 and 9.30 in the morning.
  • The office is on the 11th floor and the building has elevator access throughout.

The harbour is a practice area, not scenery

Newport Harbour is the largest recreational boat harbour on the west coast, and it generates a kind of injury claim you will not find inland: propeller strikes, wake and collision injuries, overloaded charters, parasail and jet ski incidents, and falls on docks and gangways.

These are not ordinary premises or vehicle claims. An injury on navigable water can fall under federal maritime law rather than California personal injury law, with different limitation periods, different damages rules, and the possibility of a vessel owner attempting to limit liability to the value of the boat. Working out which body of law applies is the first question and it changes everything that follows.

Charter and rental operators also owe duties a private owner does not — a seaworthy vessel, competent crew, and real instruction before handing a powerful machine to someone who has never driven one. See boating and watercraft claims.

The Airport Area

MacArthur Court sits in one of the densest office districts in Orange County, which means two things for the claims that come from the immediate area. A high share of collisions here happen on the way to or from work, which brings employer liability and commercial policies into play. And the parking structures serving these towers produce a steady stream of low-speed collisions and pedestrian strikes where fault is genuinely contested and the camera footage decides it.

The 73 toll road and the 405 interchange nearby are CHP territory, so a collision there produces a CHP report rather than a Newport Beach Police Department one — requested from a different agency entirely.

Coming in from out of town

A fair number of people injured in Newport Beach do not live here. They were visiting, boating, or staying at one of the hotels along the coast, and by the time they think about a claim they are home in another state.

That is not an obstacle. California law applies because the injury happened here, and nearly all of a claim is handled by phone, email and mail. What genuinely cannot wait is the written request to preserve the incident report and camera footage, which overwrites in a matter of weeks.
