Tustin injury lawyer
Tustin is four miles from our Orange office and sits at the convergence of the 5, the 55 and the 261. For a city of under 80,000 it carries a remarkable volume of through traffic, and the collision pattern reflects it.

Through traffic in a small city
The 5 and 55 interchange and the Jamboree approach move very large volumes, and much of it is not local. Merging, weaving and sudden braking are the dominant mechanisms, which produce rear-end and sideswipe collisions rather than the intersection impacts typical of older street grids.
Freeway collisions here are CHP-investigated. That matters practically: a CHP traffic collision report is obtained differently from a city police report, and in a serious case the CHP's Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team may be involved, producing a far more detailed reconstruction than a routine report.
Retail and the former base
The District at Tustin Legacy and the surrounding development on the old Marine Corps Air Station land concentrate retail and restaurant traffic, with large parking lots and pedestrian movement between them. The claims are the familiar retail mix: parking lot collisions, falls, and injuries from inadequate maintenance.
Ongoing redevelopment across the Legacy site also means a steady presence of construction traffic and active sites. An injury on or adjacent to a construction site raises the possibility of a third-party claim beyond workers' compensation, which is where the real recovery usually is for an injured worker.
Old Town
Old Town Tustin has the opposite problem from the rest of the city: narrow streets, on-street parking, short sight lines and genuine pedestrian activity. Doorings, reversing collisions and low-speed pedestrian strikes are the pattern here — low speed does not mean minor, particularly for older pedestrians where a hip fracture is a life-altering event.
Questions people ask
My collision was on the 5 in Tustin. Who wrote the report?
The CHP, not Tustin Police, handles freeway collisions. The report is requested from the CHP rather than the city, and in serious cases a specialist CHP investigation team may produce a much more detailed reconstruction than a routine report would contain.
