Moreno Valley injury lawyer
Moreno Valley has the Inland Empire's level I trauma center, which means the region's most seriously injured people end up here regardless of where they were hurt. It also has a logistics economy of its own.

The 60 through the Badlands
East of the city the 60 climbs through the Badlands on sustained grades carrying heavy truck traffic. It has a long-standing reputation for serious collisions, with the familiar combination of descending grades, speed differential between cars and loaded trucks, and limited shoulders.
Collisions there are CHP-investigated and frequently serious enough to warrant a full reconstruction, which produces far more usable evidence than a routine report.
Being treated at the regional trauma center
Riverside University Health System Medical Center is the level I trauma center for the region, so a catastrophically injured person from across Riverside County is likely to be brought here.
Two practical consequences. The medical records from a level I trauma admission are extensive and are the backbone of a serious claim, so getting them complete and early matters. And a hospital that treats an injured person has a statutory lien right against a third-party recovery under Civil Code section 3045.1 — which is normal, is frequently negotiable, and must be resolved before a settlement is distributed. See medical liens.
Questions people ask
The hospital says it has a lien on my settlement. Is that allowed?
Yes, within limits. California's Hospital Lien Act, Civil Code section 3045.1 and following, gives a hospital a lien against a third-party recovery for the reasonable value of services. It has statutory caps and procedural requirements, and in practice these liens are frequently negotiable. It must be resolved before funds are distributed.
Who polices Moreno Valley?
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department, under contract to the city, so the collision report is requested from the Sheriff rather than a city police department. Freeway collisions on the 60 or 215 are CHP.
